Module 12 · Lesson 5
The 10-Minute Demo
"Show, don't tell: a sign-up, a purchase that earns, a redemption at another business, and the owner's ledger — in that order."
Video narration script (ready to record)
The demo is four scenes. Run it in this order and you'll never get lost.
Scene one, the sign-up — two minutes. Ask the owner for their own mobile number. On the terminal, tap 'Text a link to join', key the number in, and tap 'Send the link'. Their phone buzzes; they tap the link, type their name and number, and their welcome screen comes up with their card, their reserved gift and a hundred welcome Boons already in their wallet. You've just proven 'no app, no card'.
Scene two, earning — two minutes. Ring up a sale on one of our own registers with them as the customer — there's no demo business, so it's a real charge: one cheap item that still clears that shop's minimum spend, and void it from the terminal when you're done. Run it through 'Run card / Boonora' and point at the Boons-earned line on the Payment complete screen — the printed receipt doesn't carry one. Have them text BAL to the Boonora line, (447) 747-4364, not the shop's own texting number, and the balance comes back instantly. Now they've felt the customer experience.
Scene three, the network — three minutes. Switch to the second business on the network — the café — with the company switcher right on the register, scan the same member's code, and ring up a small coffee; it's a live shop, so keep the ticket tiny. Apply their Boons. Their balance drops; the café got a customer it never had. This is the scene that sells. Let it breathe: 'that's your customer walking into the shop next door — and theirs walking into yours.'
Scene four, the ledger — three minutes. Open Boonora Accounting in the café — the business that honored the redemption — set the period to thirty days, and show 'Owed to you right now', the settlement line under Your transactions, and the CSV button. Then switch back to their own business and show the same redemption from the other side: 'You owe the network.' Then the dials they control — earn rate and member discount in Business Settings, their first special in Reward Specials, and their earn limits on their own terminal. 'You set these. We run everything else.'
Close by asking one question: 'Which business on this block would you most want sending you their customers?' Write the answer down. That's your next prospect, and your introduction to them — yours to go work, not a referral Boonora tracks or credits back to the owner.
Shot list (what to show on screen while narrating)
1. POS new-member entry.
2. Owner's phone receiving the welcome text.
3. Receipt with Boons line; BAL reply.
4. Company switcher to the café; redemption applied.
5. Boonora Accounting page; Business Settings dials.
6. Closing question on a title card.
Demo runbook
| Scene | Do this | They should notice |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Sign-up (2 min) | Text the owner's own number the join link from the terminal; they tap it and join. | Welcome text + bonus arrive in seconds. No app. |
| 2 · Earn (2 min) | Ring a demo sale with them as the customer; have them text BAL. | Boons on the receipt; instant balance by text. |
| 3 · Network (3 min) | Switch to the demo café; apply their Boons to a coffee. | Their rewards worked at a different business — the whole idea, made physical. |
| 4 · Ledger (3 min) | Boonora Accounting → owed / transactions / CSV; then Business Settings' three dials. | Transparent money; owner keeps control. |
| Close | "Which business on this block would you want sending you customers?" | You leave with a referral and their reason to say yes. |
Prep before every demo: Log into the demo company, clear old test members, have a $5 demo item on both registers, and check the texting line is green on the SMS page.
Talking points
- Use their real phoneNothing beats their own pocket buzzing. Ask first — and use the network's demo business, never a live customer.
- Don't narrate features during scene threeSilence after the redemption is the most persuasive thing you'll do all day.
- Keep the ledger scene shortThe point is that it exists and is readable, not the line items.
- End on the referral questionIt reframes the whole meeting from 'buy this' to 'who else should be in your network'.
